Teru Sushi ponzu sauce?

I generally like Teru Sushi in Studio City, but have noticed lately they are adding a sauce to the Salmon,it's not bad but it does seem to mask the taste of the fish. It's a little tart, I think it may be a ponzu sauce, but it's hard to pinpoint.

Is this common?

I haven't been to that many sushi bars, but it strikes me that maybe they are trying to cover something up...? Once in a while I've seen a sushi bar do this to the fish, and frankly I would prefer they didn't, I'd just like to taste the fish, the soy sauce and a touch of wasabi...
