Nice meal at Terra, but do they really feel people actually enjoy snooty behavior? Haughty maitre d' although the waitress was casual enough; the d' turned his nose up at the mere $100 bottle and the waitress decanted it in a record 2 seconds! The rib eye was sent back (medium does not equal raw and bloody in anyone's book) but everything else was good. If you want to be seen, by all means go. And go ahead and order a Spottswoode for $300; just don't be surprised if they turn their noses up at THAT (a patron at a neighboring table loudly reminisced about the days she liked the "cute but naive" Spottswoode wines).
Bistro Jeanty in Yountville was everything you expect out of a French bistro. Innovative rustic cuisine at its finest: duck gizzards on frisee, the most amazing cassoulet I've ever seen or tasted, outstanding clafoutis. Just don't expect a romantic evening--unless you know sign language. On the other hand, it's a great place to take kids on a Friday night; they seemed to be screaming and crawling everywhere!
