I and three friends went last Sat night. This was the first time I went with anyone who is not deathly afraid of anything spicy.
We ordered three appitizers and three entrees. Started with Beef Jerky in Spicy Sauce. Was very good, not chewy like I expected. Was hot, but not crazy like I was expecting.
We also got spicy wontons which are very good and dumplings which were much bigger than any I have had before and also good.
Our first entree was the Broiled Fish with Green Onions. Now I know why I have heard so much about this dish--it was fantastic. I thought it was a bit wetter, really looks like fried fish, just a bunch of pieces, but they were outstanding. I have been craving them ever since.
One of my friends wanted to order something like Seafood Delight--it looked like something you could get at any Chinease and though my friends liked it, I thought it was nothing outstanding.
We were going to order some sort of Chicken with lemongrass, but the wiater pointed to the entree right below it, something about beef in a hot pot. It was very good. Very tender beef with peppers and onions.
Overall, we had a great meal. And, with tip, it only came to $18 apiece--though that was in no small part due to them not serving booze! As the only thing I had had before was the spicy wontons and they were the same so i am not sure how other things may have changed since the chef left. I can say the food was great, however I was expecting it to be much spicier. nothing really had me sweating. A couple bites were hot, but all in all, not what I would call HOT.
