Tea Smoked Duck in Flushing

There has been lots of Sichuan merchants in Flushing lately. People selling little boxes of appetizers on the street. I went into the little mall on Main near 41st and saw that things have changed. The first counter on the right still has the baos, but further in, sharing a counter, there's someone selling whole Tea Smoked Duck, billed as the Sichuan specialty. A large is 12 dollars, a small, 10. Very reasonable. Very well prepared. You chose the one you like and the guy can chop it up for you at your request.

This is something. Tea Smoked Duck has been so neglected in the past. As difficult it is to find in Chinese restaurants, when you do order it, it's a different version at each restaurant. This particular one I got is more smoked, with tighter meat. Quite delicious cold. Their duck necks and liver cooked in soy sauce (at 2 dollars a box) are tasty, too.
