Tazza in Providence

We went for breakfast Saturday morning, before the Open Market crowd arrived (the menu said they start serving at 9). I got eggs, toast, sausage, hash browns, and a cappuccino. My friend got an egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant and two espressos. Our total bill was about $18.

The ingredients were fresh and high-quality (great toothy multi-grain bread, good eggs, and well-spiced, meaty sausage), but not very skillfully cooked. The sausage and eggs were overdone and the hash browns (shoestring potatoes, carrots and onions) were attractive, but greasy and bland. My friend said his sandwich was "Just okay. A bit mushy." The coffees, however, were very good, the service was attentive (if amateur), and the chance to eat breakfast outside on a beautiful morning made it worthwhile. I will go back, and hope the the kitchen improves.

Can anyone report on their lunch or late-night food? I really want to like this place.
