Tavern on Green - Pleasant Surprise

JanR | Feb 19, 2005 03:25 PM

Went to Tavern on Green for an impromptu lunch today. Not having been there in many years, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food is. Had a beer battered cod sandwich, accompanied by fries and cole slaw. All very good, but I have to say the (obviously homemade) coleslaw was the best I've ever tasted. My companions had a tuna melt and chile. They both thought they were excellent. Reasonable prices and very pleasant service too. We didn't have alcoholic drinks but it looked like they have a very good selection of beers and not a bad wine selection. I can see why this place has been around so long.
