Dennison gave me this great tip that I think other hounds will love as much as I do.
Many Asian supermarkets have packets of prebroiled, boned eel in their frozen food section. I found mine at Kam Man on Canal (NYC Chinatown) for $3.95. Apparently it pays to shop around, as I found the same sized eel for double the price at the Grand Street Sausage Store.
The eel is about 12 inches long, and of course very rich so Ive been able to stretch this portion for several days. All you do is throw it in the broiler (still frozen) and in a few minutes its done. Because it is so rich, I like to eat mine with simple white rice and kimchee, which really nicely cuts the oil of the eel.
