Popped in last night spur of the moment. Hadn't been there in several months and I have to say, every time we go we enjoy it more and more.

I started with the New Zealand mussels steamed with lemongrass and basil. These may well be the best mussels I've ever had. Not a bad one in the bowl, nicely sized, just enough as an appetizer. I had to refrain from drinking up the bowl of broth which my husband thought I was nuts for not doing but as I explained, I'm kind of trying to watch my weight a bit and I had no idea exactly what was in it, and "if" it were full of fat, I didn't want to be drinking a bowl full of it LOL. But, darn good it was and I highly recommend it.

He started with his usual favorite, the spring rolls which were very good but nothing remarkable because, well, what spring roll is? Nothing wrong with them, just an uneventful choice all things considered, but he enjoys these.

We decided to split 2 main dishes; the pad thai but substitued chicken for the shrimp (DH does not do seafood at all) and a dish of Hot Pepper Beef with Basil (don't exactly remember the name). This one had an option of either beef, chicken of shrimp. Veggies in it were pepper strips, bok choy, mushrooms, some others I'm forgetting. Wonderfully flavorful brown sauce and the basil flavor really came through. My husband felt chicken may have been a better carrying agent for the basil over beef so next time we'll try that instead, but I didn't feel the beef was an issue. Only thing was most of the sauce was at the bottom of the dish, unlike Chinese which tends to be very well incorporated, and we kind of did not realize this until we were nearly done which was unfortunate - next time we'll make sure we toss the dish around first before we plate it. One small cup of rice was served with this, which we found to be just enough for both of us.

The pad thai was not as "dry" as many other places seem to make it, had a looser consistancy which we enjoyed and a lot more flavor as well. The chicken worked fine with this although I personally missed having the shrimp in it. We actually were not able to finish this dish, we were too stuffed from everything else at this point.

All in all, we were very happy with our meal. The only thing we have a problem with here is the noise level, which is really quite atrocious. It's so bad, you can't even hear your waitstaff talking to you at certain times, communicating becomes problematic. Let alone when the "birthday song" comes on - yikes! But, in the grand scheme of things, it's forgiveable since the food and the service is so good here. It's come a long way since it first opened, we were there that first week and were quite concerned about how things were going to work out for them. Well, they have managed to work out their service snafus and the food continues to shine.
