Taro Sushi on Dean in Park Slope

Went to Taro Sushi - the new sushi joint in the former Mr. Tacos y Burritos place - on Thursday. So good I went back on Saturday with reinforcements.

On Thursday had the sushi regular - 6 pieces of sushi and a tune roll. Subbed in the spicy tuna for the regular tuna. The fish was very fresh, the spicy tuna perfect, and - amazing at this price point - fresh wasabi. (The dinner cost $12.) On return I had the three roll sampler - California, spicy tuna, and salmon. All very good and an amazing value at $9. The eel is barbecued there and has a slightly stronger flavor than usual (I find most unagi to be bland save for the sauce - this is a good thing.)

Plus, the owner - whose parents run a joint of the same name in Tokyo - is very nice and professional.

For sushi, I believe this may take over for Geido as a neighborhood fave. (However, Geido still wins on cooked Japanese foods such as okonomiyaki.)
