Restaurants & Bars 5

Tapas and paella

I'm trying to locate a restaurant that would do a wonderful job catering a 50-75 person party with a Spanish theme. Specifically, I'd love a place that offers excellent tapas and good paella, and could appeal to a crowd with quite diverse food preferences (seafood lovers, seafood haters, carnivores, vegetarians, etc.).

Based on researching the board, there didn't seem to be a consensus favorite Spanish restaurant. Laurentino's gets at best mixed reviews with dissenters noting poor ingredient quality. Some folks seem to like Madrid or Vega, but I didn't find that many detailed raves. Many hounds suggest that Marisol's tapas is wonderful, but I'm concerned that its menu would not work for a more focused Spanish-themed event. I'm a huge fan of Rio Mar, but wonder about its ability to appeal to non-seafood guests.

I was just wondering if you had any favorite Spanish restaurants in the New Orleans area, or other suggestions along these lines. Many thanks in advance!
