My husband and I recently ate at Las Ramblas, which is on West 4th Street near 6th Avenue. We had been craving Spanish Tapas since visiting Barcelona last summer. We truly enjoyed this very tiny place. the menu is all tapas, some cold and some hot. They also offer specials each day. Prices ranged from $5 per plate up to $14, depending on the item. We had 9 plates between the two of us along with several glasses of Cava to wash them down. We had the duck sausage on a skewer with quail eggs, pimento and pearl onion; baby lamb chops grilled; shrimp in an amazing garlic sauce; beef on a stick; grilled sardines (amazing); scallops with ham; the Spanish omelet; a couple of others that escape me; and dessert (they do't have much to choose from) my husband had the orange scented custard (their version of creme brulee) and I had assorted berries sauteed in grand marnie with chocolate drizzle and whipped creme. A very nice evening before heading uptown to see a show. They do not take reservations, it is a very small place that filled up quickly. We arrived early around 5:30pm ish as we had a show to see after. They did not rush us even though many were entering al the while we ate. As we ate, they continued to bring "french bread" to us for the sauces and replace dirty dishes/flatware and clean the table. All in all, a nice experience.
