My husband and I (from Dallas) were in Tampa Thursday night through Saturday afternoon for a friend's opening exhibit for a master's program at USF. Of course I checked this Board for restaurant suggestions. The 2011 thread was especially helpful.
We chose Bern's for Thursday night (we had to push back the reservation time due to being diverted to Jacksonville because of weather - no problem at the restaurant with the change). I know there are mixed reviews about Bern's but our graduate was completely delighted with the choice.
We went to the Refinery Friday night for an early dinner before the opening. That place is incredible - if I lived in Tampa I think I'd go there every week to see what they came up with.
Saturday we needed an afternoon meal. I had reserved at Oystercatchers, but then checked the menu - it was all fish and our graduate doesn't like fish. So back to the Florida Board where I found Pane Rustica. It turned out to be a great choice - I had the fluke special and my husband had the mystery special (which was shrimp and noodles with an asian flavor). Our grad had a sandwich special he really enjoyed.
You guys are great!
