Hello. Long time lurker, but a first time poster. I made an account specifically to ask this question.
Do you eat the lettuce on Com Tam (broken rice)?
I was with some friends at a Vietnamese restaurant the other day and I ordered Com Tam. I was under the impression that you eat the lettuce on the plate. This was until my friend asked 'why are you eating the garnish?' Have I been eating the garnish all along? The lettuce was under the meat, but I was under the impression that it's a peasant dish so garnishes are not really a thing. Please help clarify.
