I eat at Taka a lot because it is around the corner and I just can't stand how pretentious Soto is. Tonight was darn good and I just had to write about it. We had the Thai style red snapper sashimi which came with pine nuts, cilantro, shredded daikon/shizo mixture, and peanut sauce..so tasty. Unbelievably good and perfectly-seasoned fried eel bones. We then had the grilled pike (which is in season) along with a ponzu sauce...a bunch of bones but very tasty. We then had the sea urchin custard which had pieces of unagi, asparagus, edamame, and a generous helping of Uni. The short ribs followed. This was the best part. He uses a mixture of mirin, soy sauce, and something else I cannot remember...delish. Please go soon as most of these are specials that won't be around much longer.
