We haven't noticed any posts on this spot, so we figured we'd let people in on it. On Sunday afternoons, a taco truck pulls up to the side of a church at Columbia and 16th and sells its tasty treats. We've gone the past two weekends to, umm, conduct research and have been pleased with the results. Last week, we had a plate of tacos-- 1 bean and 2 chicken. They were both delicious! Better than we've had over in the Bladensburg area and from other cabs in Northern Virginia. The chicken tacos had a very spicy and slighty stewy flavor and were really good. The bean tacos had lettuce, tomato, and onion, and the beans had a nice slightly lardy flavor. Both were served on very tasty soft corn tortillas. We had hoped to have some more tacos yesterday but Sam's bike trip up there proved futile--so far as we can tell the truck is only there on Sundays. Anyway, today we had some more for lunch--again bean and chicken tacos. This time both were different from from last week, but still as tasty. The chicken we grilled and had ample lettuce, tomato, cilantro, and radish; the bean was simply refried beans and crumbly queso blanco. They also gave us different sauces from last week. This week was an orangey hot sauce and the other a sort of fairly spicy guacamole. A plate of six tacos (3 bean/3 pollo) was 9 bucks. Apparently they also serve taquitos, the typical canned fruit juices, and perhaps a few other dishes. And it appears to cater to an almost exclusively hispanic crowd--save for us both times we've been over there. And needless to say, we'll be going back again soon!
