I bought some tacos at a bodega. They were shrink-wrapped but fresh, already folded, and a layer of shredded lettuce, red radish slices, tomato slices, and lime slices were packed on top of the folded tacos.
The taco shells were about eight-inches in diameter, flour -- not corn, and dusted with cayenne-red powder. They were hot for Mexican food, which means they were peppery but not eye-watering. The filling was minimal and looked like quarter-inch-long white sprouts. About a generous, heaping teaspoon's worth. The red powder was on the inside of the taco, too.
The tacos were moist but not greasy.
Other than the heat, they were tasteless.
What were these things? Any ideas?
