Taberna del Alabardero in DC has rearranged their tapas menu, and now my two favorites are gone. What is left now is a mixture of ordinary fare hardly worth it even at half-price happy hour.
We started with patatas cabrales, a good version, and white asparagus, tree trunks of watery flavor. We then went on to main coourses (still the bar menu) of scrambled eggs and shrimp, and tuna in a tomato sauce. Both good. The desserts were only ok, one a pear poached in red wine and the other a chocolate 'biscuit'. The pear was more sweet than anything else and missed a good chocolate sauce to add some bitterness. The 'bisciut' (translated as parfait in English) was like a mousse with walnuts and a flavorless cream sauce on top.
