Finally made it to STH - twice this week. Lunch on Thursday - the lunch menu is somewhat limited (if you go for the rice plate specials) but they come with choice of soup. The H&S is probably the finest traditional style H&S I've ever had. Perfect balance, subtle but spicy tastes. We also had the hunan pork (char shiu with veggies and a salty black bean sauce) that I wouldn't get again, but the eggplant in garlic sauce was incredibly good. Last night we were joined by chowpup and ordered the szechuan hot and sour (a large bowl) -- the same outstanding blend of flavors, but with squid and shrimp chunks added. a bargain at $5.50 (we have enough for leftovers for tonight). the other destination dish was the whole fish in szechuan chili sauce -- large, perfectly cooked, smothered in lots of garlic/chili sauce that actually wasn't that spicy (just enough) (another bargain at $12). Or maybe our taste buds were still in shock from the 3 pepper chicken, which is very good but not as great as the fish or the beef in garlic sauce (even better than the eggplant). The dumplings in spicy sauce were great, as advertised. Thanks, Joypirate!
