Best Szechuan Chili Seafood in Monterey Park- not too good for the wallet

As many of you know, Szechuan Best on Garfield next to Giang Nan is one of Jerome's favorite places.

Well, finally got around to try it by default.

Giang Nan closes everyday between 3 - 5pm ( not smart business plan in the restaurant crowded area of monterey park).

We showed up around 4:30 pm, and thus, the choice in this plaza is Szechuan Best.

Well, the cold appetizers are standard fare and looked very good and not expensive ( $2.95 for choice of one to three items).

But, the entrees are slightly pricey.

The steamed fish with chili bean sauce was $ 12.95

The chungking spicy chicken was $ 8.95.

The flavor is right on and the service is good in this cramped restaurant. But, right across the street there is YunGui ( where the water boiled fish is $ 6.95!!!). There is also Szechwan Express on Atlantic and El Portal in the same mall as New Concept. At Szechwan Express, you dine among the mainlanders from China for a fraction of the Szechuan Best. Mainlanders know where to find good deals. If they crowd up a place, you know it is good food and cheap.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth.
