This is an upsetting development, but not a surprising one.
The Newsday story (see link below) mentions several times that the Woodbury Sutton had problems with poor management. That is no doubt true. But until the opening a year ago of Fairway Market three miles away in Plainview, Sutton was a busy place. Once Fairway entered the picture, Sutton became a ghost town.
What's amazing is that Sutton never attempted to hold its customers by lowering prices from blantantly obscene to simply disgraceful.
Meanwhile, for one week starting Saturday, April 13, Fairway will have Epoisses on sale for $6.99 a wheel. There's something ironic about that, on the heels of Sutton's closing.
