been twice and BOTH times it was terrific. better than terrific. i think it's on par with nobu when it comes to its appetizers. Yasu's menu has extensive cooked dishes as well as an array of appetizers made with sashimi at the sushi bar.
so far i've tried the following appetizers: fois grois sauteed in special sauce that comes in a little lettuce leaf so you can eat with your hands, spanish mackerel appetizer that comes with a ginger sauce, toro tartar with quail egg, and seaweed salad with 4 different kinds of seaweeds. all excellent.
sushi was excellent as well. i tried the toro, salmon, hamachi, and uni. teh rice was a little warm but i think that's because we went at 5:30pm for an early dinner.
Yasu serves very high quality ingredients but the price is very reasonable. the desserts were excellent as well as everything seemed home-made including the red bean paste. i liked the cooked dishes as much as nobu and the sushi is on par with maybe sushi seki. the restaurant was full on sunday night with a mostly a japanese clientele. try this place and don't be afraid to order as many appetizers as you can eat. you won't regret it...
