Sushi Weekend

crosby_p | Feb 26, 200803:26 AM

I was looking for sushi this weekend...Saturday, I went to Sushi Hana and San Sushi in Towson and couldn't find a parking space at either...I was looking for a place to read my book and have a beer...I had an errand at Belvedere Square, so instead of Ikan, I went to Cafe Zen. I had been there for dinner last year and had some wonderful sushi. So...it's about 2pm, and in I go, I asked for a Kirin light...they didn't have it. The waiter put down a very small plastic menu with mostly CHINESE offerings on it. Did Zen change recently? I asked for sushi and he said oh no...it would take a "very very very" long time for the chef to make it. So...I settled for their combo lo mein...which was excellent, but not what I wanted. Fast forward to Sunday. Had to be in Timonium area, so decided to try Edo Sushi for the first time. Went in, ordered a beer, she said "sorry, no alcohol".....I sat down and ordered hot tea. It came in a mug without a handle and was so hot to pick up that even by the end of my meal it stood untouched! I ordered Age tofu, which was delicious, and a spicy scallop and tuna roll. They were ok...but had the addition of a piece of unpeeled cucumber inside which you had to really chew and took away from the whole experience for me!
So...I should have/could have walked out of either place before ordering but I didn't...I'll stick with the Towson susheries in the future! (and buy some Kirin light for home!)
