sushi sho

After two visits this smallish sushi bar has become my local favorite. Not only because of the very high quality of the product and affable attitude of the chef and servers, but also because the price is fair and the portions generous. He has some unusual Japanese imports and pleasant flavor combinations. I especially liked the albacore sushi with a slightly spicey ginger miso sauce. The only disapointment was the fried squid salad--greens were a little tired looking.
There are so many Valley sushi spots with low quality product- unfresh and beaten up, overcrowded bars and rushed servers (and monotonous musical soundtracks) that it was almost a relief to find this very pleasant spot. Though the decor is a bit sparse, I was too consumed by my consumption to notice. You will not have the ethereal experience that you may find at high end sushi bars with high end prices, but it is (so far) an undiscovered gem. A very worthwhile neighborhood spot--enjoy it before the crowds find it.
