Went there for dinner last night for the first time with high expectations since I had heard so many good things from fellow Chowhounds. It was very busy, however we were told that there was a cancellation so we were given a table in just a few minutes. I thought this was great luck. We were shown to a small table and it was very cramped. Both of us had sushi and thought it was nothing "phenomenal". Iv'e had much better at Sushi Yasuda, Sushisay and Nobu. The only things that could be considered "creative" about my sushi deluxe was the fried oyster with a mayonaisse based sauce and slightly seared salmon. Quite frankly I didn't like either. The tuna, fluke, shrimp pieces were just ok, definitely not the freshest I have. My friend ordered sushi a la carte and was not too keen on anything either.
Was there something else that I should have ordered?
Service was definitely off and lacking. Our waiter didn't bring a house salad that was ordered. We asked for it after the sushi only because my friend was still hungry. I asked for tea repeatedly. It was only refilled once. I had to ask several times just for that one refill! He kept on passing by w/o the tea.
We felt rushed. The maitre d' came by to take our dessert order and then the waiter came by again wanting to take it again. We were given our checks along with dessert. I actually took out my credit card while we were eating dessert. I know they were busy, people were waiting when we left, but still! I don't think I will go back, there are so many sushi places on the UES. Any suggestions for a good one?
