Sushi Diner at Rickshaw Express in Hayward

Han Lukito | May 9, 200505:54 PM

We had coupons that will reduce our meal to 50% of the menu prices. It was the cheapest sushi dinner I had and here are my findings:

Sashimi combinations: scallops 2 pcs, yellowtail 2 pcs, salmon 2 pcs, tuna 2 pcs and two more fish pieces I can't identify (probably toro and snapper) - all on top of bed of shredded daikon?. Menu price is $13 and we got them for $6.50. Nothing spectacular but the fish is just ok, not as tasty as I like but edible.

We had 4, that's right, 4 of their chef's special rolls for like $4-5 each. They were large with lots of ingredients. I do not think they were made well. The rice, fried ingredients and combinations somehow did not work very well. We got the Rickshaw roll, Tsunami roll, Spider Roll and Dragon Roll.

All of us were stuffed to the gills. It's better than the buffet for sure but not by large margin.

Anybody had dinner there ?

They were missing one chef and we had to wait 1 hour to get our food but were comped with free salad and edamamis. You don't get 'em if you had the 50% coupon while the others enjoy these things freely.

This place is located on Jackson (92) near Safeway.
