I had dinner at Susanna Foo's on Saturday night, a little nervous because of the two negative comments. But in spite of a few missteps, this restaurant knows what it is doing with food.
We chose an appetizer special: big eye tuna sahimi: the plate covered with a thin layer of silky, flavorful and ultimately fresh fish, with a caramelized citrus dressing, livened with green peppercorns. Yum! Also had lobster dumplings, which, while pleasant, hardly tasted of lobster. I got the good entree: stirfry of Jamieson lamb with Chinese eggplant.(Ask for it spicy)
They used lamb shank, which was somehow tender though medium rare, and had that full lamby taste that shank has.
On the other hand, crispy fried prawns was as hackneyed as you might expect. Highlight of dessert was a small scoop of roast banana ice crem: as good as it sounds. The Oh Susanna cocktail was a good pair with our meal.
Yes, it is expensive,($136 for 2, with 3 courses and 2 cocktails each) but it is also worth the money.
