sunday dinner at lucques never disappoints (new price: 40 bucks)

modernist | Mar 13, 200601:34 PM

roasted cauliflower and endive salad
with red onion, meyer lemon and green olives

grilled black bass with duck fat potatoes,
cabbage, black trumpet mushrooms and verjus

warm brown butter tart
with rhubarb compote and buttermilk anglaise

the roasted cauliflower florets were as beautiful as they were tasty. a lively bright flavored salad.

the potatoes were crisp and delicious, the black bass dish was better than any fish course i had at providence a couple weeks ago (which i thought was a total disappointment) the cabbage with black trumpet mushrooms (are they the same as chinese wood ear?) was very asian tasting. there were also small transverse slices of green grapes that was an interesting touch.

and the dessert delicious. GF compared it to a "cui pi dan gao" or "chinese crispy skin cake"

the price is now 40 per person but still a remarkable value
