Sun Dou Dumplings on Grand Street

Ann Chantal | Dec 12, 2003 10:05 AM

I was in the neighborhood and with five minutes to spare before picking up my daughter at her after-school program. I usually go down to Mosco Street to get the 5 for a dollar dumplings there. My daughter loves them.

But there wasn't enough time to go down to Mosco Street so I nipped into this place. They were selling many different kinds of dumplings including soup (i.e. "juicy buns") for extremely cheap prices.

So I took some home to make a quick supper for my daughter. Unfortunately (or fortunately), she is well-used to the superior dumplings at Fried Dumplings and she rejected these out of hand. I tried them too. The skins were too doughy and thick, almost pasty. The fillings were good. Too bad the outer packaging didn't measure up.
