Sum Wu Seafood in Chinatown

Chandavkl | Jun 29, 2005 05:51 PM

For those of you who haven't noticed, Sam Woo Seafood Restaurant in Chinatown (the one on the second floor on the right side of the escalator in the building formerly known as the Food Center, at 724 N. Hill St.) is now called Sum Wu Seafood. (The signage of the new restaurant is nearly identical to what it was before, except for the spelling change.) This appears to be a change of operation (as opposed to a sales tax scam) as the Chinese name of Sum Wu does not include the "3" character like all of the Sam Woo retaurants. The old Sam Woo Seafood was one of the best places in Chinatown for lunch specials, and Sum Wu continues that tradition, with a large number of selections under $5. We tried a number of the fish dishes and they were all very good.
