Need two suggestions for 'Parents meet the in-laws to-be' dinner

phuh3 | Apr 7, 201512:04 PM

I recently got engaged and my parents are coming to visit in the few weeks (separately as they are not together) so that they can meet and have dinner with my in-laws to be. I need 2 different suggestions for restaurants that would be fun, delicious, quiet enough to talk and get to know each other, and either not too crowded that there would be a wait, or one that takes reservations. As for price, everyone is going to fight over the bill, so somewhere that is moderate- maybe mains in the $20's or small plates?

His parents love hole in the walls with great reasonable food- almost any cuisine. I took my dad to Prime Meats the last time he was here and he LOVED it, That's an option, but there's so many great places in NY i'd love to explore more. He definitely likes places that are a little more... refined. My mom has a gluten allergy, so probably not Italian for that dinner- but other than that, she's pretty flexible. My fiance and I love all sorts of food. I think the problem is there's so many great places i'm having trouble finding 'the right one'

As for where- pretty open. Everyone will be coming from somewhere else either by car or subway, so anything that's decently easy to get to. Brooklyn is an option too (we live and I work in BK) so also posted on the outer boroughs board.

Thanks!
