All of this talk about Bahn Mi has gotten me thinking about an old favorite from my childhood in St. Louis - the St. Paul Sandwich. It's truly a horrible creation that I believe only exists in St. Louis-area Chinese restaurants: an egg foo young patty on wonder bread, with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. Sometimes additional shrimp or other meats might be added to the mix. It's delicious and horrifying, a cross between a Big Mac and the most Americanized Chinese food you can find.
Anyway, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm craving it! So ashamed as I am to ask the question, does anyone know of anything similar to this in Boston? Or alternatively, who has good delivery egg foo young in the Cambridge/Somerville area so that I can make my own?
