My kitchen was not functional yesterday because of a new counter installation (yay, we finally have a nice counter :), so we had to go out for dinner. I noticed Dax's post about Strip-T's and thought it would be a perfect place to try. We meant to try it for a while, but never got a chance because they are closed on weekends.
The food was excellent with the exception of the fish (which I heard is their strength). We both had Caesar salads with great tangy dressing. JDog got lamb chops with shiitake mushrooms and cheddar mashed potatoes, and I got grilled wahoo (fish similar to swordfish) with cilantro lime butter and fries. Lamb chops were juicy and tender, and the sautéed mushrooms were perfect with them. Mashed potatoes had skins in them and a nice creamy texture. A very homey dish, but quite excellent. The fish was just one big accident. It was terribly overcooked, and completely dry, and they forgot to top it with cilantro lime butter, so there was nothing to save the dry fish. The fries were outstanding though. Thin and crispy, and slightly beer battered.
Our waitress was great and very friendly, and when we started talking, we found out that the chef's wife was having a baby that night, and the kitchen was a bit nuts. That might explain the fish mess up. They didn't know if it's a girl or a boy yet. I guess we have to go back to find out.
Was the overcooked fish unusual for this place? I hope it was because we loved everything else and would love to go back. By the way, we saw a sign that they are opened on Saturdays too.
