What's the story on the Barracuda restaurant in Bay Ridge?

Kitchop | Aug 13, 2003 03:31 PM

When I first moved down here last year, the Barracuda on 3rd Ave in the 70s seemed to be open. I never got around to trying it, but always intended to since I love seafood. Then it seemed to be closed for a while, yet still there. Now it seems to be open again, but no one ever seems to be in it.

Everytime I ride by it on the 37 bus, I renew my curiosity about this place and then temporarily forget about it again. But it's become something of a real mystery. Clearly, I just need to get myself down there and walk in the door and satisfy, if not my appetite, at least my curiosity.

But I'm really curious about what the story is on this place. Does anyone know? Has it changed ownership? Was it closed down by the board of health? Is it in the process of re-inventing itself? Does it now or did it ever have good food? And, if not, where is a good place to get seafood in Brooklyn, esp. in the Bay Ridge area? We're so near the water, there must be good seafood here someplace, right?

Thanks,
Kitchop
