Can I store cast iron pizza stone permanently in oven?

I have the Mario Batali cast iron pizza pan and because my pizza stone is cracked into 4 pieces, I thought I'd keep the Batali pan permanently in the oven, instead of the four piece ceramic pan. Is there any down side to doing this? Or, for that matter, would I derive the same benefits as I did by keeping the ceramic one permanently there?
