Stokesay Castle & Knights Pub

Bacchus101 | May 12, 201604:13 AM

The environs and the venue/facility itself are lovely especially in the spring. Al fresco dinning is available at both the Castle and the Pub. The pub has large floor length windows the can be full opened in nice weather. The service was vert pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable. Ok that is the upside. Three of us for dinner all had mediocre to lousy food. The filet was order medium rare and was deliver well done and for the price was a very small piece of meat. Wild Boar was tasty but again overcooked. The fish and chips was the worst I have ever had and was obviously not freshly made, probably frozen, the chips were ok. Drinks were terrible, done with no knowledge and all under poured at high prices. A replacement ordered was their "house"ale, undrinkable swill. To net it out if you are looking for a lovely venue and don't really care what you eat or how much you spend his is the place. Had the food been good the venue and service would justify the higher price. Suggestion get a burger or sandwich and a known bottle of brew and you might get lucky.
