Returned from downtown STL. Very empty and slow with outstanding loft buildings to the north (here in Phila we would die for such large spaces). Anyway, went to Dlemar Loop and had sushi at Modia- OK, nothing special- more a club with a small sushi bar. Had a drink at Lucas park in the loft district- again space is fantastic and somewhat of a scene on Friday night. Had dinner at Wasabi Sushi next door- very good and inexpensive. Last night had dinner at Red Moon- another beautiful loft space- food was very good- galangal soup, squid salad, and tuna tartar.
Overall- food was fine but am amazed as to how empty and bare downtown is- even the newly renevated loft district. Unfortuantely, many of the conference attendees didn't feel safe to explore and no one but me rode the Metro Link. Some good STL PR is needed to inform visitors.
