Gourmet Seafood's the place that replaced Pacific Garden a while ago, in the basement space in Chinatown Eatery on Beach Street.
Had a superlative stir-fried Empress Clam, expertly cooked, the skill and technique evident in the beautiful texture of the clams, just the right balance of tenderness and resilience. The delicacy of the dish is emphasized by the gentle vegetal spring of finely chopped scallions, and is not weighed down by the generous but judicious amount of garlic. The clams were exceedingly fresh, sweet, with the right oceany notes. It's not on the menu, but came recommended by the waiter. It sounds approximately like "GuiFeiBaang"; gui4 fei1 bang4 for those who know pinyin.
Other dishes were generally competently made and very satisfying, with the tender, lissome frog in a claypot with roasted garlic being one of my favourites.
