Restaurants & Bars

We just went to the Halfway Cafe on Washington Street in Dedham (apparently, they have two other locations -- one is in Watertown and the other escapes me--Marlborough, maybe?). It's a bar & grill with the standard pub fare (though relatively smoke-free). The item to go for is the fresh steamed clams at $8 for a half order (a pound and a half -- enough for an appetizer for one or two) or $13 for a full order of three pounds.

The clams were certainly fresh enough, and they were served in a decent onion/clam broth, with the requisite hot broth for sand removal and drawn butter for dipping. They were good. We went through several full orders, and probably could have kept on going.

Don't show up too late, as they have been known to run out of clams right before chowhounds' arrival.
