The two newest additions to the Staten Island kosher scene are Scoops Ice Cream and Cafe, and Chopshtix, which just opened yesterday. They are both located near the intersection of Victory Blvd. and Jewett Ave. - Chopshtix is on Victory, and Scoops is on Jewett. I stopped by Chopshtix today to pick up a menu. From the looks of things, I think it might take a little time for them to get things running smoothly, which is to be expected. I don't think that they anticipated as much of a demand for Shabbos orders today, on their second day open.
I took the opportunity to go around the corner to check out Scoops. I had thought that they only served ice cream, but see that the menu includes wraps, sandwiches, salads, bourekas, omelets, panini's, bagels, and baked potatoes. I'm excited about the prospect, and hope they actually carry all the things listed on the menu.
Can anyone more "in the know" than I, please give more details about either of these places. I am embarassed to say that I actually forgot to check out their teudot kashrut, though I'm pretty sure they are under the Vaad of Staten Island. Any info. will surely be of interest to kosher Staten Islanders, as well as visitors to Clove Lake Park, the zoo, and Staten Island Children's Museum, over Chol HaMoed.
P.S. An order of ribs, being oicked up at Chooshtix today, loooked and smelled delicious.
