Attention chefs and restaurant owners... my wife and I have been living in Gramercy (16th & 3rd) for 3 years now and even though we love the neighborhood, we've been stuck finding some good restaurants in the area. Is anybody else in the 'hood feeling this? I'm amazed at the number of poor quality Chinese and Italian restaurants along 3rd Avenue that still seem to draw in customers. What's up with that?Chino's is good every once in a while and Casa Mono's great but you need to reserve weeks ahead of time. Pure Food is interesting but again not a weekly bistro kind of place. I feel like just about anyone could open up a really successful place but nobody's doing it. Meanwhile there are quality restaurants languishing in the East Village and Lower East side because there's so much competition- they should try reopening 10 - 15 blocks uptown. Thoughts anyone?
