In the process of purchasing a second home and decided to start over in regards to cookware. Vast majority of my cooking is for two people. The ONLY pieces I have already purchased are (1) 4 Quart Staub Round Cocotte, (2) Two 8-inch Update International Fry Pans. I purchase these as throw aways after a few months, (3) Vollrath half and quarter size sheet pans.
My sister will be purchasing a new 7.25 Quart Le Creuset for me --- which I use for chili's, soups, and braising larger portions. I was also going to purchase an inexpensive 10" OXO Good Grips 10" open frypan.
For the last 15 years I have been using a Sitram Profiserie set that I purchased at Costco. That set will be staying in New York.
The pieces I was going to add include -
- 1.5 quart saucepan for heating lunch portions (I work from home)
- 2 quart saucepan or saucier
- 3 quart saucepan or saucier
- 10" skillet/fry pan with with lid
Please feel free to question these. Is this overkill on saucepans? Is it worth adding a saucier?
Over the holidays I spent quite a bit of time at Williams & Sonoma handling All Clad, and while they are beautiful, I find the handles uncomfortable. Have others here felt the same, made the purchase and gotten used to them?
I would REALLY appreciate input. I have read threads and many of you have posted about manufacturers I have never heard of.
I consider myself a pretty good home cook. I'm hoping to have even more time for cooking once I'm down in Florida. As such, I am willing to invest in quality.
