Free cup (or taste) of their new instant coffee for the next few days. From the website
"We think it tastes just as good as any cup of freshly brewed Starbucks® coffee. And we bet you'll agree. a participating Starbucks store October 2-5 to take the Starbucks VIA™ Taste Challenge. Let us know if you can taste the difference and receive a free tall brewed coffee for your time.*"
Well, I feel robbed now. I never got the coupon on (blush) either visit.
I wanted to try both types, Columbian and Italian roast.
Sadly, the Via microgrind (not instant according to Starbucks) tastes better than the fresh-brewed. It doesn't taste burnt.
There wasn't a whole lot of difference between the Columbian and Italian roast. The Columbian was a little smoother and milder.
The real question isn't how it compares to Starbucks fresh-brewed but how it compares to other instant coffee. Will people pay about $1 a cup for instant coffee?
It comes in little packets. Three packes were $2.99. A box of 12 packets was less expensive, but still it was a gazillion times more expensive than the most expensive instant coffee. That little packet only makes an 8 oz cup.
It can also be added directly to cold water or milk.
