We are from New York and in January my husband and I are spending our 1st 3 days in New Orleans celebrating my husbands 50th. We enjoy fine dining and most of all great food and when traveling we love to get a true flavor of the city we're in. I've tried (through this site) to get some sense of direction with the end result to eat great food, dine in wonderful surroundings and most importantly gaining a true feeling of New Orleans. 5 establishments I've narrowed down to are Brigston's, Commanders Palace, Restaurant August, Bayona and Delmonicos. (Commanders because we've heard about it for so long.) I'm leaning towards Brigston's, Commanders Palace and August, with August the one I'm a bit unsure about (seems to be too much like the typical fine dining establishments found in any large city). If someone could recommend a replacement that could present a true New Orleans dining experience (with of course great food), please help me out. Which three should I narrow it to?
