I ate at Gumbo Shop in St. Louis today. This was my third try.
I ordered an Abita Amber. They only had it warm. (huh?) Strike One.
I ordered an Oyster Poboy. It was about 8 inches long by 2 inches wide, contained about 8 small oysters, and cost $8. Strike Two.
The bread was some kind of hard (really hard) roll rather than French. The oysters were small and tasted like they were scooped out of a Bucket-O-Oysters, and the breading was mushy, soft and greasy. Strike Three.
That is their third out.
These folks came all the way from Louisiana to St. Louis to serve cr@p.
It is amazing to me that "Cajun/Creole" food is known (or is it?) nationwide, and yet I can't find a decent Poboy in St. Louis.
