Sripraphai, flushing food court and fay da review

Just got back from the our third and final trip to the US open this year. We ate at Sripraphai twice and the food court on main st. once.

Sripraphai was great and I have little add to the glowing reviews already posted here. We sat in the back, in the pretty outdoor garden, which was nicer than inside. The soft shell crab is a must as are the flat noodles with chili, basil and ground meat. The bbq beef and penang curry are *hot* and I suffered some thai aftershock after our first visit. A really good dessert was the warm sticky rice with banana in a banana leaf.

I'm afraid we didn't fare as well at the food court. To these eyes, the place was dirty. The trays were grimy, the floor needed a mop, some of the stalls didn't look all to clean and there was a pungent odor. We started with beef jerky which was good...but not nearly as good as the stuff I had in singapore which was a lot more complex in flavor. Then we ordered a dish of pan fried noodles with vegetables and meat from ramen king. For $5 we received a huge plate of delicious home made noodles. In all, good food, you have to close your eyes while you eat, IMO not really worth the trip. By the way, all the food vendors were really nice us to us.

Finally, we stopped by the fay da bakery which was an unmitigated success. Absolutely fresh, delicious buns and pastries. And I had my first bubble tea...interesting...but it was a little sweet for me.

This board was a wonderful resource for us. So much better than eating the overpriced food at the open.
