Had a great breakfast at Square One last Sunday.
The coffee is delicious. Rich and hot.
Service is good. There's a big back patio that looks like it could use some more tables. We may eat out there next time.
There are several baked egg dishes and they come in their own small skillet. We had the one with Canadian Bacon and brioche topped with a frisee salad and a mustard vinaigrette. It was outstanding. The vinaigrette kept it interesting, and the greens added nice texture.
The eggs benedict was less wonderful. Even though the menu says its served on an English muffin, its actually served on a thick piece of bread, kind of like a ciabatta. Its difficult to cut through gracefully, and several times the knife came crashing down on the plate as the bite was severed from the rest of the food. Taste-wise, it was okay. Nothing special. The potatoes its served with were also ho-hum. They werent twice baked, so the outside was kind of hard, and the inside was collapsing. They are liberal with the garlic flavor, which I found to be a little heavy. The wife liked them, though.
The fresh squeezed orange juice is really tasty, too. Well definitely be back. Im ordering the baked eggs next time.
