Most posts about Venus seem to focus on breakfast, but I had a lovely dinner there yesterday. I shared a salad of arugula, goat cheese, slivers of bacon, and wonderful peas. I also had the halibut -- not exciting in itself, but with more of the peas, thin asparagus spears, mushrooms and some kind of wilted green -- chard? Honestly, my first thought was "eeww, that's a lot of green stuff," but it was wonderful in a simple, seasonal, Chez Panisse-y way. I've tried growing peas and also buying and shelling my own, and I know it's hard to deliver that quality.
