This little spot across from the Santa Monica Airport (across from Hump and Typhoon) was visited by me and a group of 5 others during a weekday lunch. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE service, and food was mediocore.
I had a crab seafood salad which had waaay too much dressing which in itself was bland. All the other dishes ranged from chicken breast, stir fry, and burgers--everyone said their dish was nothing to write home about. Perhaps they do breakfast better as it's always busy on Sundays.
However, the lasting impression was the service. Not only was the waitress rude--which perhaps I could have ignored, but she/they weren't even slow, they were in plain ignore mode. It was ridiculous.
a) All but two people got their food. We had to keep asking him a total of SEVEN times before the other two came 15 min after everyone else (and it's not like we ordered paella!)
b) No ice tea/water refills even after requesting such four times. Finally she rudely put down entire pitchers...I guess we were interrupting her when we wanted her to perform her job!
c) Cleared away half of the empty plates, NEVER removed the others
d) Asked for dessert menu which she brought after some time and then we couldn't get anyone to take our order for over 15 minutes, despite stopping the busboy or whomever would listen! This is not an exaggeration. We didn't leave as we were engrossed in a discussion.
e) Placed dessert order finally and mentioned we were celebrating a belated b'day. She snapped "we don't sing here"...haha It was a comical experience!
I am sending the manager/owner a letter today. I eat out a lot and while I may have had dingy servers who keep brining the wrong stuff, I have never experienced such poor service.
