dropped into kiiroi hana--an old favorite that we hadn't visited for some time--on monday night, and had an all-round excellent meal w/particularly fine sushi bar offerings.
started with an edamame salad (a nice mix of shelled edamame, a couple kinds of seaweed and 'lettuce stems' dressed with sesame seeds and a light sesame oil dressing) and chilled hiyayoko tofu (soft tofu cubes, served on ice, with a D-I-Y dipping sauce on the side). both good, especially the salad.
the fish preps were truly great though: my favorite was the usuzukuri, a platter of paper thin whitefish slices served with a ponzu sauce on the side ($20 but woorth it). special tuna roll was also quickly inhaled (although i don't usually like chopped tuna rolls, this was a goodie). yellowtail, sweet shrimp and a spider roll rounded it out nicely.
total, with a couple of sakes each, was right around $100 for two.
