Went to Spago last night and had an amazing meal as usual.
Apparently there was a problem with my duck entree, either the waiter forgot to place the order or a mishap in the kitchen. So when they brought everyone else's entrees they broght me a complimentary dish until my entree was ready.
They brought me a pumpkin ravioli with white truffles. I was very excited because I have never had truffles before. The pumpking ravioli was excellent but the truffles tasted like nothing! It didn't taste bad but it didn't taste good either.
Could someone explain to me why people pay sky high prices for something that is definitely not worth it?
Maybe my palate is not sophisticated enough to appreciate truffles, or maybe they served me rotten truffles that had fallen on the floor, or maybe people just order it to seem sophisticated and wealthy.
